Course Description
This course is for mariners wishing to attain certification as a master or captain to operate a small commercial vessel up to 60 gross tons. This course provides mariners with the knowledge and skills to be in charge of a vessel, its crew members, and passengers and/or cargo while the vessel is at sea or in port.Prerequisites
Listed below are the additional Transport Canada Marine Safety and Security requirements for a Master Limited (under 60 gross tons) certificate:
TCMSS Marine Medical if your vessel carries passengers (must be obtained from TCMSS approved doctor.)
Marine Basic First Aid.
Marine Emergency Duties DVS (formerly MED A1, A2).
ROC-M radio license or ROC-MC depending on area of operation.
SEN Limited if your vessel is equipped with radar.Sea Service - two months sea service performing duties on a ship of similar size tonnage, engaged in voyages that correspond to those of the vessel in respect of which the certificate is sought.
Valid Government Issued Photo ID (i.e. Driver’s License, Passport or Citizenship Card)
