Course Description

This course is intended for mariners with a minimum of six months deck experience and will prepare them to challenge the TCMSS Bridge Watchman exam. Delivery will be a combination of theory and practical skills, including seaman’s obligations, safe working practices, review of general ship knowledge, gyro and magnetic compass, keeping a lookout, detached duties including communication systems and verbal communications, rope work and wire splicing. Other Transport Canada requirements include medical certificate, MED DVS (formerly MED A1), B1, B2, or STCW Basic Safety and STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats, Marine Basic First Aid and an eight-hour steering testimonial.

Valid medical certificate or Georgian College Medical Fitness Report
